Mauritius, officially the Republic of Mauritius is an island nation off the southeast coast of the African continent in the Indian Ocean. In addition to the island of Mauritius, where Alter Domus’ office is located, the Republic includes several other islands. The Republic of Mauritius is a parliamentary republic and is a member of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, the African Union, and the Commonwealth of Nations. English is the official language and the Mauritian rupee (MUR) is the official currency.
