The Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown Dependency, is part of the Channel Islands in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy. It is not part of the U.K., but rather a separate possession of the Crown. It belongs to the Common Travel Area. In addition to the island of Guernsey, where Alter Domus’ office is located, the Bailiwick of Guernsey includes several other islands and islets. Guernsey has a thriving financial services sector, and is a popular offshore finance centre for private equity funds. Its official languages are English and French; its official currency is the pound sterling (GBP). It is not part of the European Union.
