Jessica Mead

Jessica Mead is General Counsel of the Alter Domus Group, and is based in Chicago.

Jessica joined Cortland Capital Market Services LLC (“Cortland”) as General Counsel in 2008. Cortland became part of the Alter Domus Group in March 2018, and Jessica was named Group General Counsel in February 2020.

As General Counsel, she manages the full spectrum of legal, risk and compliance services to support corporate level transactions and the operations of business units. Reporting to the CEO, she works with the senior leadership to ensure all Group operations are conducted within the limits prescribed by law and that the Group’s rights are fully protected through the provision of sound legal counsel and guidance. She delivers legal services to the Group, maintains and manages relationships with external legal advisers, and develops and manages training and compliance programmes to promote understanding of the organisation's legal rights and obligations, and to cultivate a culture of compliance. She also works closely with senior managers on significant corporate initiatives, and negotiates major commercial transactions and non-routine transactions. Furthermore, she promotes the Group’s values and model behaviours that demonstrate commitment to the Group’s leadership principles.

Jessica has been a practicing attorney since 2003. Prior to joining Alter Domus/Cortland, she was responsible for managing the document review and closing process for Collateralized Loan Obligation transactions within LaSalle Bank’s Global Securities and Trust Services group. Before her work at LaSalle, Jessica focused her practice in consumer and securities class action litigation.

Jessica graduated cum laude from Coe College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Political Science and earned her J.D. with honours from Drake University Law School. Jessica is a member of the Illinois Bar.
