How long is too long? That is a question often asked of subscription credit lines. Even with more transparency and understanding, the proper use of subscription credit facilities is still a point of contention.

At their core, these lines are sup­posed to be bridging a capital call, yet durations—which are typically around 90 days—are often being extended by general and limited partners who are pushing for longer terms.
