Firms Eyeing Retail Should Note ‘Constraints’

Tim Toska, Group Sector Head, Private Equity at Alter Domus, sits down with Private Funds CFO to examine the challenges slowing the retailization of private equity.

Fewer opportunities in the public markets and a need to diversify their retirement investments are driving retail investors into private markets. Tim explains that while this new investor class presents new opportunities for private equity managers, there are key challenges GPs need to consider before tapping into retail capital. Among these challenges, Tim notes that private equity managers would need to integrate new technologies to allow them to satisfy the growing demands of retail investors for enhanced investment transparency and reporting.
